TEN YEARS OF YOUTH CULTS,
MAKES IT THE GREATEST BOOK.
This is Derek Ridgers'
When We Were Young
- published in 2004 in an edition of 1000 and long since sold out. These are Ridgers' photographs of Britain's youth on the streets and in clubs between 1978 and 1987. Half skinhead, half new romantic and
completely brilliant.
It is super scarce and virtually impossible to find - as all the best books are! Not to panic, however, as Andrew Bunney, jewellery designer and friend of IDEA Books, has been working with Ridgers on an
exhibition for Dover Street Market.
There are some very subtle portraits that also set the book apart from many of the other punk or Blitz era references. Although Boy George and Gary Kemp are amongst those photographed, it is the fact that everyone else is
not
famous that makes the book so valuable.

In addition to presenting Ridgers' photographs and the Bunney collection of jewellery, the first issue of the
Bunney Paper
(devoted to Ridgers' photographs) will also be available. Unusually for anything on our emails, it's free!
