THE SECRET PUBLIC PUNK'S PHOTOMONTAGE MASTERPIECE!
Wow! The rarest of the rare. Linder Sterling and Jon Savage's The Secret Public. Self-published in an edition of 1000 in Janaury 1978. The great work of punk rock photomontage. It was 40p at the time: It's a fair bit more now.
New wave couples really did get turned on by remote control. This domestic incident is one the most iconic images of the era. For more electric dreams jump forward 10 years and see the Audio/Visual Interiors
book below.
Linder is infamous as the artist behind The Buzzcocks' Orgasm Addict
sleeve. The Secret Public
was given the catalogue number New Hormones ORG 2, a year after Buzzcock's seminal Spiral Scratch
had taken ORG 1.
We've gone global with the really good punk books this week. Bookmarc in New York has a copy of the super scarce Paradiso Stills. Kenzo, Paris has probably the only copy of this issue of Sniffin' Glue
in the whole of France!
