One word. Rare!
For the very uninitiated, this is MEMPHIS MILANO design. But surely no one needs an introduction...
A translation we can provide:
MEMPHIS, LIKE ALL NEW POSSIBILITIES OF EXPRESSION, IS MADE ABOVE ALL OF ASSOCIATIONS, UNDERSTANDINGS, METAPHORS, DEFORMATIONS AND INTENTIONS. THE MORE SOPHISTICATED THE LANGUAGE, THE GREATER THE EXPRESSIVE POSSIBILITIES BECOME AND NOT VICE VERSA.
Martine Bedin does actually provide a full run down on Memphis up to the date of 1983 in Italian and in the concrete poetry form of a skyscraper. Very impressive.
Michael Graves vanity dresser in a blue wash, ringbound with the blue glassware. This artist book was prepared for an exhibition in 1983 at the TOT Gallery in Padua.
Details thus:
Extract from the work printed in one hundred copies by Giulia Laverda and Ennio Chiggio in January 1983 on the occasion of the presentation of MEMPHIS FURNITURE at the TOT Gallery in Padua.
We love as in LOVE the press pages photocopied and bound into the book. This one for, as it says, the London Times by Deyan Sudjic is iconic. Reference like this is hard to find (slight understatement btw).
Most of all we love the yellow pages with the screenprint inks. The book is fun. It is also museum grade quality and scarcity. Lots of ideas for fab museums you could build are in the book!!
