FOR THE LAST FIVE YEARS LEONARD KOREN'S 17 BEAUTIFUL MEN TAKING A SHOWER
HAS BEEN UNFINDABLE. THEN WE
FOUND ONE. YOU KNOW
WHAT THIS MEANS. NO SUPERBOOK IS SAFE. WE
WILL FIND THEM ALL!
We will try and stay calm! We have looked for this for so long. For five years at least.17 Beautiful Men Taking A Showeris the earliest published work of Leonard Koren, the author / auteur / super talent responsible for WET The Magazine of Gourmet Bathing, New Fashion Japan,Undesigning The Bath, Wabi-Sabi... This is where it all begins.
It is so brilliant. So simple. So brilliant (again). 17 men, one shower. The photographs rotated 45 degrees one way and then the other in one long concertina fold. The first names of the beautiful men at the bottom. This Paul Ruscha and Ed Begley Jr. Both they and the other fifteen were Leonard's friends. It was Leonard's shower.
All will be revealed. It is a work of art. It actually is. Whatever art is - this is it. And at over one and a half metres long... and framed... you could build a gallery around it.
Leonard Koren, Los Angeles, 1975. Three perfectly attuned elements. After this shower book, Leonard published the screen print23 Beautiful Women Taking a Bath, which we sold once at Dover Street Market (and a glimpse of which can be seen hereon this Dazed page). Then cameWETof which we had a full run and wrote abouton this superlink. And now17 Beautiful Men...we could not be much more excited about it!!!
