Palm Beach News

INTERVIEW, EGOISTE, RITZ,
BOULEVARD, DELUXE, FACADE, LE PALACE, PICTURE NEWSPAPER...
YOU THINK YOU HAVE SEEN ALL
THERE IS TO SEE AND THEN - BANG - PALM BEACH NEWS / VILLAGE CRY ENTERS THE 1977 MAGAZINE SCENE
AND YOU THINK WHERE IN THE
WORLD DID THAT COME FROM? ANSWER: SWITZERLAND!

1977 just took on a whole new look. This magazine, titled, for its first issue only, as Palm Beach News, was produced in Basel in Switzerland. That's already pretty amazing forward slash unlikely . Then you open it!  Is it good? Click to view. It beats the greatest expectations!

A double page from the punk issue. It is absolutely world class. A stunning find of otherwise unpublished and quite brilliant photographs.

This is one of the few images in the whole run of seven issues that we have seen before. Ralph Gibson's fork is part of a porfolio of his work in issue no.7. See every issue here - 80 images!
Village Cry no.6. The magazine's editor, Beat Presser (probably not his real name) and publisher Rolf Paltzer (probably is), heard about the London punk scene in 1976 and headed straight to The Roxy to photograph everything and interview everyone.

Oh this is amazing. It is wonderful, no? The whole issue utterly inspired. See just this punk issue here . Have we ever published a stronger link?

And the pictures we have never seen before. This image by Christian Coigny is WOW but how about these knickers with cartoon Mexican mouse Speedy Gonzales playing the violin... HELLO!
