LE PALACE AU BOUT DE LA NUIT. KENZO IN THE SPRING SUNSHINE.
This special Paris mail marks the re-launch of the Kenzo store on Rue de Rennes with an IDEA Books section! And what better book to open with than Le Palace: Au Bout De La Nuit
. Published in 1979, it is as scarce as it is brilliant. We have one copy for Kenzo and another one on its way to Bookmarc New York.
Some of the images of bejewelled masks and near naked leatherwear are reminiscent of Studio 54. But Le Palace had a punk/new wave angle that takes more from The Roxy or the 100 Club.
And this is Kenzo, Rue de Rennes. Opening Ceremony's Humberto Leon and Carol Lim are Kenzo's new creative directors and their inspired design covers the collections, the stores, the website, blog, and the accessories including... IDEA Books!

The book also has a few pages - notably this one above - which take it up and away into its own special level. This is the final image in the book... au bout de la nuit indeed.
We could not have hoped for a sharper looking store. It's Memphis meets the Hacienda with the lights on AND with cactii! We love cactii! See more here. Opening stock includes Facade, Ritz, Sniffin' Glue, The Fiorucci Book, the Hockney Paris Vogue...
