Façade

THE MOST UNBELIEVABLE BOUND VOLUME OF FACADE MAGAZINES INCLUDING THE OUT OF THIS WORLD FIRST ISSUE!

This is the cover of Facade No.1 from 1976. Designed by Pierre et Gilles and featuring Eva Ionesco (uncredited, but it must be her?) and the Eiffel Tower (no such problems of identification), it is one of the most extraordinary magazine covers we have ever seen.

It's a heavy tome in marbled hardboard covers with aged gold lettering to the spine and its... so cool! Like Raiders of the Lost Ark!! Look inside with this link - treasures like you have never seen before.

Back to Facade No.1, which, due to its incredible scarcity, we might not see again for some time. 5000 copies were printed in Paris in 1976. It was launched at an Issey Miyake show where models handed out the magazine from the catwalk! As first issues go, it's on a par with i-D or Egoiste (see below) - every page is brilliant.
Issue No.2 doesn't look too bad either - especially in this super scarce fluorescent yellow variation. We have written about Facade before but this time is a bit special. Numbers 1-12 (and including both versions of no.2) bound in one volume.

Facade had a unique front and back superstar cover format so the consecutive binding creates even more unlikely combinations such as this Eva Ionesco (for sure this time) and Jack Nicholson pairing.

Another spread from the first issue. You see? It is amazing! The bound volume has long sold out, but e-mail us here to enquire about single issues.
