Coconuts

COCONUTS. THIS SUMMER'S SUPER BOOK. PUBLISHED BY LOVE ME TENDER IN 1982.

Coconuts is, we think, a very good title for a book. And 'Love Me Tender' is a great name for a publishing company - especially for a company in the business of publishing books like Coconuts.

On the right hand page, Brooke is sat beside an enormous swimming pool in silk blouse and holding her face to a full length fur coat. Wow! You can see the image larger in this album.

Also returning this week is Cars' Girls. Self-published by the photographer Denys Defrancesco in 1984. Words can not really describe this book - nor explain the use of an apostrophe in the title where an 'and' might have worked better. You have see it to believe it.

Jean-Daniel Lorieux's photobook is an airbrushed fantasy of sun-kissed models posed on beautiful beaches. IDEA Books favourite Brooke Shields (shown above with excellent tan) models in Monte Carlo.

Check out this double page! The single theme of graded geometric pastel spayed frames runs throughout the book. It is effortless, effervescent and genuinely refreshing!

The formula is beyond simple. Take a top model (and that does mean a car - Ferrari, De Tomaso, Lamborghini) and pair it with a glamour model then publish. The results veer between inspired and insane, and, in the above example, genuinely very good.
