Alchimia

ALCHIMIA: THE NEW GOLD DREAM.

Oh this is a beautiful book. Or books rather, as it is three slim volumes of postmodern design housed in this powder blue, pink and peach spot card envelope. Alchimia was the design group that followed Archizoom and preceded Memphis in the timeline of exceptional, experimental and inspired Italian design. And this book is one its rarest artifacts.

The book is a rare as it is brilliant. A magical item. This double page illustrates the Bau. haus collection of 1979. We'd take... everything.

Andrea Branzi, Alessandro Mendini and Ettore Sottsass were the principal players in Alchimia: A group so talented they could have put down their coloured pencils and won the 1978 World Cup for Italy if they had so wanted. The work above is Mendini's nude and chair framed with a hint of random imperfection by the Paperchase style marble effect page.

...and these! The world's most wearable concept shoes. Never actually manufactured, just airbrushed into the wants list of anyone who sees them.
